My Plecs - L001 And L083?

In the meantime this may be of some help planetcatfish.com

Yeah, I've been there. I'm pretty certain of the L001, it's the second plec I really need help identifying. It was sold to me as a Sailfin, but I'm not sure the fin is pronounced enough.

L001 - Tick in the box

L083 - if thats the L number for a Sail fin (gibbiceps) then its a tick too :)

Cheers for that.

Would these be safe sharing the same tank do you reckon?

how big is the tank? they should be ok while small, but once they get to 5/6" they will start getting territorial (it can happen a lot younger than that though)

the Gibby will get to 18" quite quickly so a LARGE tank is needed... the L001 is a lot more suited to the 'average' tank at about 8" ;)

as long as you have a lot of hiding places they should be fine ;)

It's a 130 litre Tropiquarium job. It was going to be a temporary move for the Gibby (which is tiny atm) until I get another larger tank set up elsewhere in the house- in a few months. The common gets a bit aggressive at feeding times which is putting me off the idea.

the 88 ;)

nice proportioned tank (we have 2). but not ideal for larger plecs.
The gibby will definatly need a new home...

Yeah it's the 88. I've had it for about 5 years now.

I've been toying with strengthening the base unit and getting a custom tank built using the same footprint dimensions but a little taller - taking it to about 28 inches maybe. That way I can transfer the existing hood onto it (with a little work).
