Hello new family...

I have a very seemingly healthy Pleco adult fish. He/she is in a 90 gal tank with my 5 year old large comet goldfish. They actually co-habitat pretty well. I keep the temperature at 74/75 degrees consistently and the PH is 7.4/5. I have a Fluval 405 filter. I did a very partial water change 3 days ago and did add a little salt for my goldie...but I don't know if that has to do anything with this problem. I noticed a small hole in the membrane of my pleco's dorsal. There's also two others but tiny pin head size. I normally would take out the carbon and add Melafix right away, because it has always worked for my goldies on healing any torn or damaged fins. My Pleco doesn't seem sick - still has a hearty appetite - eats day/night, swims around - but does seem a little more active than normal - like he/she can't seem to find an appropriate resting place. I feed him/her algae wafers, shrimp pellets...and peas. Also he/she eats my goldfish granule food that contains spirilina algae. I've tried to feed romaine lettuce and squash...but he/she doesn't seem to care for it. Should I do a Melafix treatment. I called Petco an they said I should only treat for half the tank size and yes, remove the carbon. I'm actually do for a carbon change this week. Any advice I would greatly appreciate. Thx.

Plecos don;t like salt. I would do a very big water change to get rid of salt and leave it for a few days to see how plec is before adding any medications
