So I got this common 2 inch plec about 2 months ago; I fed it algae wafers. The pleco didn't eat the algae wafers. A couple weeks ago I bought a albino cory and some shrimp pellets. I fed 2 shrimp pellets to the cory when I turn around and its all gone. So I realized that the pleco is eating all the shrimp pellet?! So I put in 4 pellets, the pleco and the cory share the same meal.

Now I thought that was odd because plecs eat vegetable meal such as algae wafers or spirulina flakes?

But the pleco seems to like it and untill I started feeding shrimp pellets, he hasnt grown, now has grown about half an inch :)

Just thought it was weird that he is growing so fast now, what is the full size of the common plec? Because I want to grow him for my next tank which is going to be a 75 gal for red parrots.

Should I feed lettuce or something?

Thanks :good:

Cucumber and Courgette/Zucchini are brilliant for plecs, peas are also good.

Firstly i think you should look at getting some more albino corys. Plecs in the wild will eat anything including dead fish, this is quite natural try feeding him a variety of veg, you can try real shrimps or prawns, cockle and mussles. Most commons will reach around 12 inches (30 cm). It proberly started growing faster because of the increase in protein.
