Hello I am new to this forum but I wold like to share with you my Platties (and hopefully get reasurance that one of mine isn't an abnormal freak - more later)
So I started keeping fish only 3 years ago and I am already on my third tank and I have plans to get an even bigger one - the problem with livebearers ey!
I started off with five platties 2 boys and 3 girls. However one of my girls later turned out to be a boy! So back the pet shop to buy some more girlies. I also have one fry a little girl in a different tank until I can be more sure my goldies aren't going to make a quick snack of her!
Here are my original five sorry for some of the picture qualities they were taken with my phone I will get better ones when I get more time.
Boys:
This is Klaus he is the top dog male it seems a ladies favourite:

This is my tiny platty Elijah he is the reason I went to get more girls I think the other two males bullied him a bit and he spent most of his time arond the filter until the new girls arrived. Since then he is a lot more lively and joining in with the others:

This is Kol this is the one that was originally mistaken for a girl and I think he still a bit confused as I have seen him and Klaus get very .... friendly! I think he is a boy he has never been preggo so I would say that is a big indication!

The girls:
This is Finn She is a lovely translucent colour originally you could not see her gravid spot but now its always there. I love her colouration it may be hard to tell but she flashes a stunning petrol blue/green as she swims.

This big gal is Rebbecca. Now she is a fish with an attitude! All these fish came from the same brood (different parents but they were all fry together) but Rebbecca is now at least twice the size of the others and seems to be growing by the day! At the moment she is pregnant again so that is contribuing to her size but wowee she is almost half the size of my 3yr old goldfish! She has a grumpy attitude and I was wondering if she is actually the same breed as the others She i mating with them so I guess thats a good sign but she has either had some major growth spurt or an abnormal freak! teehee I love her all the same

These three like to be together and since these three joined there has been a lot more schooling.
I should also point out that a side wall of my tank is left to go green I noticed that this brings the fish to the front for better viewing and also helps reduce some of the constipation that some get if they refuse to eat their greens! As it is on the side it doesn't look horrible as it is the side most hidden and on other pictures you can the other walls are clean.
