Seems like I have been run over by my Paradise fish.

I have two pairs in a 3ft tank with some other fish, and they are breeding like mad.
I currently have fry in my hospital tank, my indoor pool, I have more at my friend house, I have two more sets of eggs in the tank still with the male looking after them.

This all sound fine, but this is my main tank, I don’t have any more space. Its not really the fry I am worried about, I have 2 clown knives in the tanks, small but still bigger than the Paradise fish, they are still to win a fight with the paradise fish.
The other fish are also chased to the one side of the tank. My nice tank is was a peaceful, stress free tank to watch.. Now it’s a battle ground!!!

Other than removing the males of female, is there a way to stop them from breeding, like lowering the temp??

paradise fish usually breed after the water level has been lowered, you could try raising the water level.

Paradise fish can survive in temperature from 16 degrees C - 26 degrees, so lowering the temperature won't stop them from breeding, you may have to give away one group.

Also, i'm supried you have 2 pairs in the one tank, males have been know to kill each other, much like bettas! so you may have to give up one pair!

Good luck

give them to the lfs, get some store credit :dunno:

I love my fish to much to take them there..

I was thinking last night, I have a indoor pool, I would move a pair to there, and leave them alone to figh the battle between themselfs, hopefully I will be left with only the strongest fry

does you pool have chlorine? if so, it will kill your fish

Its not realy a pool, its one of those waterfal things what you buy from Builders wharehouse with the small powerhead, and some plants around. makes a nice indoor garden, but the pond at the bottom is rather big and would easy put 10 - 15 goldfish in it. ( 85+gal ) but you only have a top view

Its how I started the hole fishkeeping idea, our winter is also not as cold as the UK, and it should be ok in the pond.

that pond sounds ideal for paradise fish, if you can keep the temperature above 16 C

I think I stop the fish from breeding nonstop..

I added a extra powerhead to the top of the tank with two spaybars one on the left and other on the right hand side to move the top water as much as possible, If the male start a buble its spryed away..

I also removed all the floating plant.

Hope this will keep them calm, atleast till all the other fry are big or sold.

try split up the two males, if possible, they get quite aggresive
