In the UK birds go for near nothing. Finches sell for about £3-£4 each which is about $7-8. These 2 birds look similar but in fact the one on the left is a hen red cheeked cordon bleu and the one on the right is a cock blue capped cordon bleu, this type sells for a bit more than that, but certainly not $70, they are also alot harder to keep than zebra's.
I love little 'zebbies'. They make me laugh as they sound like a lot of naughty schoolboys going "tee heehee teehee". I think I might get myself soem for the large communal aviary this year.
I love finches, if i found the space and time to keep them, i definately have some! But time and space is quite lacking in my life right now, already have hundreds of fish and 3 rats to look after- no finches for me right now ah well "sigh"...
By the way omen666, your finches are lovely and look very healthy too ! How many finches do you have and do they all live in the same cage?
The Cordon Bleu's will set u back a few bob! They are expensive in America to buy , 13 yrs ago they were around $40 so I am not surprised they have increased.
Cocakteils in America if hand fed go for about $150-200 in South Carolina....here in the UK you cant give them away lol
The Bird Market in the UK is rediculously cheap! The most Ive paid for my orange breasted are around £10 each.
My latest arrival on Saturday! If you guys are wondering this is a new colour mutation in the Zebra Finch. Orange Breasted Zebras. It's a combination of different blacks and oranges on birds to get this much orange on the bird...I am working on getting a completely orange one eventually.
