I got some photos which hopefully will show the tumors Mr Woo suffers from. I have him in a 5 gallon tank with a low water level so he can get up to breathe. He's hanging tough. His left side is the worst.

Here's his right side. I'm still working on taking better photos of the fish. I've mostly done landscapes and wildlife photos from a distance.
He's had tumors that became noticeable back in November. I've had to modify his tank and he no longer makes bubblenests or flares. However, he's hungry 24/7 which is why he poses for photos so well. He's just hoping I throw him some treats as a reward.
I hope he's leading the good life thanks! I've had him for only a year. The store I got him from stocked little babies around the holidays. Then a month afterward had adults...I dunno whether they then get rid of their breeding stock after the holidays or what.?? He must have been an oldster when I purchased him. I put in plants for him as they help give him a place to balance and go up for air. He thinks he's pretty sharp having those for himself. I have to keep getting new ones as they tend to go bad. I just got a small light for planted tanks so hopefully that will help a bit. He made some good bubblenests in his day so deserves a nice retirement.

He is in the best place..with you. The trouble is you dont know where lfs fish come from. My local lfs (not good one) had no bettas last weekend then one of women who work there said they have now, yet chap who owns it said he couldnt get hold of any.
I bought a really cheap one last Saturday from an aquatic place and he is so tiny.

Man oh man, we all could take a lesson from the way he tries so hard and just keeps going. Lately he doesn't seem as happy but he's been happy even tho he can't do all the things he used to do.
