This is my oddest pet in my pet collection... it's a very beautiful leech. He's living in my 2.5 gallon tank and dong pretty well  Here's a vid of it

Your right, that is strange keeping that!

What do you feed it?

P.S - After watching the video, I now have an idea of how crazy you are  ...touching it!? :good: mad man!

I really advise you NOT to let it feed off of you - it is not sanitary. There are numerous diseases that could be transmitted - even germs sitting on your own skin can be transmitted into your blood stream during the bite.

Not the best plan.

Most often nowadays leaches are fed using:

Either pig-intestine filled with pigs blood (but it has to be fresh from the butchers) or some use very thin untreated latex tubing, with pigs blood.

definately a good comment about infections, the leach itself will not treat any infections (as the blood flow is completely one way, with natural anticoagulents), but the resultant wound is definately open to infection from aquarium water/skin/dirt etc.

Medicinal leaches are kept in pristine conditions, to prevent such infections.

And also just a comment, leaches can escape through the absolute tiniest gaps, so if he does start to starve, he probably will escape.

There are only a few species of leech that suck blood, most leeches do not feed on human blood, thay eat small invertebrates which they eat whole.
