Nope nope nope, black ghost knifes cant be kept together...territorial...plecos....same if the tank is that small.
I have a black ghost knife and 2 common plecos but in a 135 gallon and will go bigger as they upgrade...I also have an angel fish and 5 Oscar's in there...I'm looking at 400 plus gallons next...your tank is way way too small...blk ghost knifes are pure carnivorous and need hiding places as well as the plecos...tank is wrong.
Stock is wrong.
Scape is wrong....wrong wrong wrong....

They are fully aware it is wrong and are saving up to fix the problem! Im sure your input on tank sizes and scaping is appreciated from them as they learn more about their fish that they were given under wrong advice, and they've already expressed guilt, so please keep that in mind and try to be understanding!

Bit unnecessary with the criticism there. I completely understand the situation and not wanting to return to a bad LFS. If all their peers will keep the fish in similar or worse then the best thing for those fish is to stay with OP as they save to improve the situation.

Nobody sets one to have a tank or community of fish that's damaging to the fish.

With regards scape - @JBAwrench perhaps you can offer some practical advice to improve the current set up? Are there inexpensive changes to be made to improve this tank, while OP works to get a bigger one?

Well this is the reason I dont use reddit, there’s a subreddit Called sh**tyaquarium (go look into it, scary and toxic community of reddit) that condemned people who do something wrong with aquarium, even noob is judged by everyone there, this is reason I dont use reddit.

I have to disagree with you, while some of the user is straight up toxic, most of them will gladly help you if you make a post like this (knowing your mistake and tried to be better).

Ok look....the cop out of "oh my l.f.s told me it was ok" does not work here....he has the Avenue to the web for the forum but wouldnt google these types of fish before he purchased them? Highly doubtful at best.

I can understand, and so does he based on what he's posted, the mistake he's made. But no one is going to learn anything through you just chewing him out rather than giving him actual advice, that's not education. He HAS listened to everyone who has given advice and is going to fix it, what is he going to fix when you just say "It's all wrong?" All that does is make people feel bad. If you confront them with hate they won't be receptive. Why would he post the stocking if not to get advice? In the ORIGINAL POST he says he's aware its wrong, just repeating that isn't helping anyone, maybe suggest advice like everyone else is.

I trusted my LFS and didn't Google. I came here when problems occured. I don't think it's fair to be so sanctimonious!

While I do agree it's doubtful especially since he joined this forum since Dec 2019. But we doesn't know his circumstances, maybe he already has his fish long before he joined here or maybe he forgot to ask here,etc,etc..I'm just gonna give him benefit of the doubt here

Nothing sanctimonious about common sense...this thread was posted like this intentionally,he posted awhile back about fish cruelty at the markets and all this and then doesnt have the presence of mind to question a person selling him fish from that same market......come on,Get outta here with that.
