Ok my new betta is making a nest and so i took the guppys out of his tank so they wont get killed. I have the female in my 29g. How do i go about introducing her to the 5g and all the other stuff that has to do with them breeding?

they make nests all the time. it is a sign of happyness and contentment. please don't breed if you don't know how, you will end up with dead or at least hurt fish.

a betta that blows a nest is a happy betta, but it does NOT mean that you HAVE to breed him. He'll be perfectly happy without breeding. It's not recommended that you jump into breeding becuase it takes a lot of time and effort.

Id' just leave him alone :)

Breeding can be fun and rewarding , but please make sure you know what to do.
I had a betta that would make a nest until the day he was set up to breed and now he is hanging out with the female in the tank just living happily together.
Just a few pointers
#1 Make sure you plan well.
#2 Research everything you can. I have 2 spawns now and still learning.
#3 Ask questions (ones that havent been answered already 44 times on the forum ;) )
#4 Plan your grow out tank
#5 Plan your baby food
#6 plan what you will do with the 1 -600 babies you will have when they hatch.
#7 make sure you have your medicines and other misc. items you will need.
#8 Decide if a betta barracks or jars is right for you
#9 Now make sure there is NO gravel in the tank.
#10 there is a lot of talk and theories on water and filtration but drop the water about half way.
#11 turn of any power filters or sponge filter
#12 bump the heat to around 80 F
#13 introduce the female in a hurricane globe
#14 I usually wait 24 hours and then release her and then watch to make sure they dont kill each other LOL
Good luck if you persue this

What she said! Don't take the same road I did! I'm not trying to breed anymore

Hey guys I just want to say awesome job answering this post. This is so much better than what I was talking about in my rant thread... this is exactly what we SHOULD do. Inform the possible breeder of the need for research and preperation, and then help them out if those two requirements have been fufilled. Kudos!
