So I have been trying to decide on what type of pleco to put in my 55 gal. I saw a L034 Medusa Pleco. I thought it was awesome. So I went and did some research on it. After thinking it over for about 2 weeks today I decided to get it if it was still there. Sure enough it was there and $35 So I started to rethink it. Then I realised I would for ever kick myself if I passed up on this fish.

So I bought it. The store people were happy to see it finally got a home. I'm so excited it's in quarantine right now. Here are some photo of it. He is pretty stressed out but in the store he was solid jet black. This thing is strong and can be really quick.

very cool looking pleco you got there. I myself only have commons but I would love a dif kind.

I'm so envious of everyone in the US and UK. We had one here a few weeks back...$187!!! I see everyone getting all these plecos for about $50 and here for some we pay hundreds, even up to more than a thousand! It stinks!

Were are you? Do you live downunder with the dingos? :) because I would think shipping fish there would cost a lot. The US & UK are not too as far from south America as Australia.

I've got three of these, my male is big as well with loads of huge bristles!!!

Cost me £9 so probably a a lot cheaper than in the states!! lol

What do you feed yours? Is yours active during the day at all? Right now mine does not move only at night he will move to get an algae wafer. I hope that will change once he is in his real home. He is in quarantine for a week.

I don;t see too much of him but these are the easiest plecs to feed in my experience especially courgette algae wafers etc

I think they are pretty tough on imports and they have lengthy quarrantine times which means quite a few probably don't make it. It also makes it difficult if you see a nice fish to know when another one will become available. The biggest risk for us would probably be disease since the bulk of these fish are tropical and in winter here it would freeze the balls off a brass monkey. I think they're just being over zealous.

Well that would explain the high price. I worked with some kiwis and Aussies at a ski resort. They would buy all kinds of fancy watches and glasses here that cost $100 but back there was like $500. Name brand crap you know.

My new pleco only comes out at night. I hope once put in him big home with lots of caves I will see more of him.

Stunning plec! I love a jet black medusa pleco, only if I had a tank big enough *sigh*

Thanks he is really cool to bad I never see him. He only comes out at night. But I hope once he is in the big tank with lots of hide outs he will be out more often. As of right now I am starting to wonder why I spent so much on a fish that I NEVER see.
