today i bought a bamboo shrimp and i asume he is a juvie because he's only about 2inch big and i am keeping him in a tank with guppys and lots of plants... i would just like a little more info on them... i have read that they get to be about 8cm and filter feed but thats all... he cost £4:50 is that quite expencive for a bamboo shrimp?... thanks
and thanks for the other info in advance

The one commonly sold gets to around 10cm I believe. Ideally should be kept in a setup with very good water movement, such as a river tank. Most people get away with simply giving them a perch next to the filter output.

They can feed off the ground by scooping up food with the fans, if this happens regularly, it means they're not getting enough food from filter-feeding.

Feeding off the ground also wares down their fans drastically, eventually leaving them unable to feed at all, so just watch out for it.

£4.50 is OK for a bamboo shrimp, I've seen them between £3 and £7.

bamboo shrimps really gives me the creeps. the first time i saw them at my lfs i thought it was some prank to scare people away.

Lol I actually think they are cute ^_^ .

Though I've finally come to the conclusion that I simply cant use my tap water for shrimp, mines not doing well right now :(.

I've switched to RO water and he's doing slightly better, he's eating, but is still very weak.

i think the bamboo shrimp are cute too and in a months time or so im going to get a bunch or cherry shrimp, say 8-10 because i need a natural way to get rid of the algea, and i like them too
