My Pastor found 4 abandoned kittens in his backyard deck. His dog had scared away the mother, leaving the little munchkins. I am, of course, a sucker for a sob story and this is my Pastor! Who can refuse a kitten from a Pastor preaching about them on Easter of all days? I took one home, and within a day, he found good homes for all of them by taking them to Church! So you've got cute baby kittens, a pastor giving them away, and in a Church. It would have to be a hard heart to refuse. But I digress. Back to my cat! She's about 4 weeks old, and cute as a button. Nobody freak, I did a lot of research before I got her and so I know how to care for a kitten that young. KMR and everything is ready, Dawn for the fleas, you pretty much name it, I've thought of it or have it. It's actually quite fun caring for something this helpless, though she really isn't that young. She is eating like a big pig and is putting on weight. I swear, she grows so fast that all you have to do is watch for an hour, and she'll look bigger. She's got an appointment to see the Vet tomorrow. I suspect she's got a mild upper respetory or allergies, but this is not affecting her play or eating habits. I am not taking any chances, however, and the other pets are not allowed to see her and won't until she receives her first boosters. Stool and urine look great, at least as good as stool or urine can look. No more idle chatter, time for pics!!!!

Meet Lucy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't she just cute? So that's 2 dogs, 2 cats, six birds, 4 tanks, and 6 bettas. That's a lot of pets, I think.

llj :)

EDIT: She's a bit older than 4 weeks and she's showing development that is closer to 5 weeks actually, but she was about 4 weeks when I got her.

She is absoloutly gorgeous... The 3rd and 5th pictures of her are sooooo Cute..with her little bow on.. I would love a little kitten/cat... :shout: xx

Edit: I would like to nominate Lucy for POTM...x

Oh Lucy is adooooooorable ! :shout: :hyper:

I can't think which is my favourite pic, but I'd like to nominate her for POTM for a pic to your best liking :good:

Ps: didn't realise you had so my pets  The white fluffy one (is it Chi Chi ? :look: or am I making that up) - and who else?

And all the birdies? who and what are they or have I missed photos along the line? 4 Tanks? I thought you had like 2. I must be behind the times!

Edit: oh I had a quick check and see I got that wrong. Charlie is the white fluffy boy and Cici was the girl in the fru-fru ;)

She such a cutie, I nominate the third and last pic for the pet of the month.

I second the nomination!

Thanks so much everybody. I've grown really attached already, so I hope there isn't anything wrong with her when I take her to the Vet today. She's not liking the formula as much as she used to, so I'm guessing that she's probably going to have to be dewormed or something like that, or she may be ready for the solid stuff now. Her activity is excellent and her hydration is good, however, so all I can do is wait and see what the doctor says, and give her smaller meals at more frequent intervals. This is my first kitten this young, and I'm a worrier, so every sneeze, every burb, every funny-looking poop is going to drive me nuts until I get her boosters. Everybody doesn't want her to grow up. For me, adulthood cannot come soon enough. Don't get me wrong, I love kittens and puppies, but this is pretty darn stressful, and the smell of the poop is just aweful. Lily's poop is like a bed of roses next to Lucy's. I'm mean, it's like some seriously rancid stuff. My sister ran out of the bathroom when Lucy pooped and threw up. It smells a lot like baby poop if anybody's curious, and kittens, like any baby, make a lot of it, and it just gets everywhere! I won't be surprised if Lucy starts wiping it on the walls soon. Or making little paintings...

I want to start litter box training her, but she wants to eat the litter I currently use for my adult cat. :fun: I can't use any clay-base litter, as I'm severely allergic to it, the pine stuff too (This pretty much covers a lot of brands, which is unfortunate), and I was thinking about using shredded Newspaper as a temporary solution until Lucy can use what Lily uses. Lily uses a silicon litter, which is the only type I'm not allergic to. I just think Lucy's a bit young for this litter. What do you think? I've used Newspaper before on another kitten with success, but not on one so young.

Thanks for the nods. She's pretty chuffed about it. I won't let it get to her head, though.

Sorry for the long post, I'm just using it to think.

Careful.... 'Tuxedo' (mostly black with some white as opposed to Oreos which are mostly white with some black) cats are, for some reason, very mischievous, almost evil. I've had several. They like to do things like knock things off of shelves on to the top of your head while you sleep, chew up important papers, etc. Of course, mine have all been male, so maybe you'll have better luck with your female. I think it's because they are so intelligent, they get really bored being house cats and have to stir things up for excitement. At any rate, good luck with your kitty! :good:

awwww how unbelievably cute!! i was gonna nominate for POTM but can't decide which pic, but plenty of others have said it already

She is absolutely gorgeous. I love her little bow. She is already a little model, posing beautifully for you. How did your other pets take to her??

Actually, she isn't black and white. She's tortoise-shell with white. It's not quite as calico-like, as she doesn't have enough white, but I can see distinct areas of orange, black, tortoise-shell, and white. The coloring is pretty strange really. I really see either torties with no white, or real calicos with a lot of white. She's almost like half n' half. Don't know if that would make a difference. But I already see the Satanic gleam in her eye.

Thanks a bunch, Miss Wiggle.

Yeah, for some reason I'm compelled to put bows on my cats. I never leave it on, but for photo shoots, you can't beat it. I think lavender's a good color for her, though peach would be great too. I'll stop now.

Actually, they haven't even really seen her yet, just really quick glimpses. I'm purposefully isolating her right now, until she's older. I'm sure they smell her though. When she receives her second boosters and is clear for Leukemia, I'll introduce her to Lily, who is the most docile of the pets. This process is going to be very gradual and hopefully litter box training will move quicker with Lily as a guide. To be honest, I think Lily is actually looking forward to this. She'll have an ally in the battle against the dogs.

I'm happy to report that she's received a clean bill of health from the vet. No parasites, no ear mites, and the fecal was completely clean. She's a good weight and he said to keep up the good work. She was old enough to receive her first boosters without the Leukemia, which will be administered when she receives her second boosters in 3 weeks. So a big sigh of relief for now. :shout:

She is gorgeous.
I know my friends exotics where brought up using shredded paper in the litter tray by the breeder but although they have changed over to litter reasonably easy they do have a habit of using a newspaper if its in the room they are in rather than go to the litter tray.
