pearlscale angelfish have slightly raised scales that look more like bumps than being smooth and flat.

Yep pearlscale looks more like tinfoil where as natural scales are more as you expect in rows and defined

I read that some koi angels eyes can be red, will monitor it

Angelfish are cool. Angelfish , IMHO , are the Ambassador of the tropical fish hobby. Everybody , aquarist or not , knows what an Angelfish is. Those marbled Koi type are my favorite. There's no two alike.
