My New Addition

picked this baby up today for my new 5ft tank ooh how i love fire eels i think he/she is gorgeous and the best thing is it eats prawn and musscle wahooo
my other fire eel wont eat anything other than river shrimp .

That's a nice looking eel. How long is it?

Mine eats frozen brine shrimp and sometimes krill. I picked up a dozen rosies for it once, took him about 3 months to eat 11. One ended up in my other tank.

Great picture, I have as of yet been unable to photograph mine. He is far too sly and knows when the camera is out.

What is yours named? Mine is Beavis ("Fire! Fire!! Fire!!!")

thanks its about 12" we havent named him yet our other eel is called moley cause when he pokes his head out of his rock and flaps his little fins he looks like a mole so sweet

i got a 13" fire eel yesterday and i named him PYRO ( japanese for fire )
just thought it suited mine eats prawns and mussel too!
your one is very very colourful nice eel

Gr8 looking fire eel, also it is a nice and unusual mix to keep one with cichlids

Yeah i have a 6ft and 5ft cichlid set up and i got a fire eel in each one now, and they seem to get on just fine my son has chosen the name spikie for the new arrival
