I was at my good LFS today telling the owner about my two angelfish. I know at least one was a female, but I strongly suspect that they are both females. Anyways, I wanted to trade the gold female angel for a nice male My LFS owner said he'd take it on a trade once it's fin ailment was cured. Meantime I asked him if he had any known male angelfish in. He said they're really tough to tell most the time, but as luck would have it, a local supplier/breeder was packing up and moving and gave the LFS owner the rest of his stock, breeders included. I grabbed the 4 year old male angel that he had in. It's huge!!!
The smaller black/silver angel is yellow/orange on the top and has hints of green and blue in the silver. I think it's a female, but I am not certain (find out soon enough...). It's almost 5" from top to bottom of the dorsal and anal fins.
Notice the 1-1.5" tetra on the bottom of the pic... Give you an idea how huge this male is...
And here's both together to give an idea of the difference in size.
