Here's my two new boys from wednesday. They look like spawn brothers, they were in the new shippment at walmart. I saw them, and tried to control myself and walked away, and left without them, but all wednesday I was thinking about how much I wanted one if not two. So I returned and realized that one had only one eye. So I just couldn't resist. So I've been treating the one with the missing eye with melafix. He seems to be doing fine. So the boy with his two eyes, who I haven't named yet is in a 2.5, and the missing eye boy is in a 1 gallon bowl. Here they are.

Here's the one eyed boy, has anyone ever had one with only one eye that survived?

"Hey I can still spot you mom! With my good eye that is!"

And here's the other boy. I just loved his color.

"I love leaning on my new plant here, much better than that cup I was in before!"

"Ahh! I'm going to go hide behind my filter now!"

"Phew! Now she can't see me!"

I don't normally like the fake "under the ocean" decor, but it was a gift, and actually kind of looks cute in there.

So there's my new boys. I need to stop getting fish. I've spend over $150 on fish in the last 3 days! It's sick! But you can't help but love them!

They are so cute!
I really feel for the one eyed boy.
IMPO I think he could survive. He wouldn't in the wild I don't think but he might be alright with a loving owner like you!!

He will probably lead a completely normal life with only one eye. So nice of you to take him in as most people wouldn't desire to have a one eyed fish, he probably would have been their for ages. Good on you for taking care of him! They are cuties!

Yay for you! They are both beautiful boys
I looked at your pics before I read and I was thinking to
myself how cool your tank looked. I think it is looks wonderful!!

I know how you feel. I got 2 new ones this week (so far) THere is always tomorrow. I got a  little white w/greenish shimmer Female CT, and all her little crowns on all 3 fins are bright red (from Walmart). It was love at first sight. The other is a cute copper delta from petco. His body is that sage green, and he has that lizzard scale look. If I am ever able to put pics up, his face is sssooooo cute.

I also have a little one eye. Her name is Uno. Uno is a little MG DT. She is a little piggy, and sees ALL the food in the tank with that one eye. I think it it the little details that make every betta special.

One eye should be fine; you'll just have to place the food near the side of his face where he can see, and maybe feed one pellet at a time since his depth perception may be off, and they could sink before he gets them all. It seems bettas have a good sense of smell even if his vision IS severely impaired; a few members here have sucessfully kept blind bettas. I have a betta who isn't blind, but can not see a damn thing except for in very bright lighting; I couldn't have a hood/light on his tank for much of the summer due to the heat, so feeding him was a little challenging. It doesn't help that he's a very... exhuberent eater, and tries to leap out of the water to get at the food; that paired with his vision led to a few worrying bumps on the head...

Anyways, good for you for giving these guys a nice home ^^ Do keep us posted on their progress!
