My male platy is swimming a little sideways but is still pretty active and chasing my female as usual. My concern what is causing this? He still looks normal not gasping for air just swimming a little off. Water levels are normal. Hope it's nothing too big as my 3 year will be devastated.

check for fin damage first if they all look normal consider this could be the start of swim bladder disease. There are treatments for it but a cure is rare. Are you able to video him and post it up? If so it would be easier to diagnose
