My male is blowing bubbles, but they keep popping

I have a large male betta, and a female, they're both ready to mate with each other, but when my male tries to make a bubble nest, they keep popping and he's getting frusterated and losing interest in each other.

I was wondering if there was something to make the water more slimey, without harming them, for the bubbles to stay, or what should I do?

Firstly read the pinned topic...now do you have a pump in the tank. When breeding bettas there shouldn't be a current because that's what 'pops' them (if you have one) If you can remove the pump for the period of breeding.
