Here's my Scooby. He lives at the shelter I work at now, but he is my dog, and coming home with me asap. He only really likes me. Scooby is unadoptable, that's why he's coming home with me. He's a pit mixed with an american eskimo, which is why he gets his pointy ears, and more curly tail. But we got him in as a puppy, and adopted him out and one of the ladies called to ask how he was doing, and they said "Oh he's a wonderful addition to our family." Well she drove by and there was that wonderful addition outside in a new addition of a kennel... So we took him back from them, since it's against our policy to put one of our dogs outside. And from not being properly socialized, he doesn't like loud noises and will bite people if they scream. He will let me shove my hand in his mouth, but if one of the other ladies tries to he ends up cornering them. That is why he's mine. :) But he is my absolute love. And goes everywhere with me. And oh yeah, the boa, I made him, and he proudly wears it everyday that I'm at work with him.

And here's Lexi sitting so pretty, she came in as a stray, and was abused by a man, and is terrified of them.

And Leah, who has one of the saddest stories of them all.
So Leah was owned by a nasty woman who bred her before she was even a year old, then took her puppies from her when they were too young and gave them all away, who knows where they are now... And then brought Leah to us. Starved and scared. I would go up to the shelter almost every night after dinner and take her some left overs. I would sit in the kennel with her for quite a while until she decided to stop growling and come closer. Now you can see that she's fattened up, and is such a cutie.

Well there's tons more at our shelter, but these are my favorites.

I love them I am glad you work at a no kill shelter. Those animals are so lucky :kewlpics: :kewlpics: :kewlpics: the one with the dress on is so funny

Could you clarify this? "Well she drove by and there was that wonderful addition outside in a new addition of a kennel... So we took him back from them, since it's against our policy to put one of our dogs outside."

I'm kinda curious about why your shelter doesn't allow adopted dogs to be kept outside. I'm familiar with the arguements for inside cats (and support them), but this is the first time I've heard the criteron applied to dogs.

We just don't think it's fair for a dog to be kept outside. They're pack animals, and want to be with the family. Not all alone stuck outside. So upon finding him stuck outside they took him back. It says in our policy that if we find that our dogs are being kept outside we can take them back.

Oh your pooches  I absolutely love the feather boa...makes him look fabulous dahling! Aren't pits the best? ?

Do you know for sure he is mixed with American Eskimo? Did you see the parents or did the person that brought him in say so? I've seen pure bred papered pits with old bloodlines have straight up ears. It's not super super rare. And, I have a female whose tail curls over her back. Not super curly, but it can touch her back at times. It is a fault in the show ring, but she is pure bred for sure also and being shown. She is 1/2 way to champion. It is My job in the ring to hide a dogs faults from the judge, LOL. The better I handle it that day in the ring, the better she places.

that pretty much makes sense (although my mother still hasn't been able to find a dog that wants to stay inside with her... but i have my own suspicions on that  ) do you apply this to all instances or just those where the dog is (a) a single dog and/or (B) put out at night?

The owners brought in a whole litter and said they were american eskimo/pit bull. And brought the parents also. But I dont' really care what he is, all I know is that I love him! And to theoutside thing. Any dog adopted from us must be an inside dog. For instance they can go outside to go to the bathroom of course, but we don't want to see them penned out, or tied out. I mean some people put a tie out on their porch so they can go out to go to the bathroom, that's fine, as long as it's not for hours or anything.
