B) Its 2:53 am... My Family was doing some work at my grandmothers house today and didn't get home till 1:00am I walked in the room turn on the light look in the tank and seen nothing so I thought oh man she didn't have them today, I turn on the tank light and there were
:fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish:
(eight) little fishies swimming around, my husband was on the computer and you guys should have seen the look on my face when I seen them I haven't been that excited in a long time My eyes were hugh and mouth open when I seen the babies in thereI couldn't believe it.. I'm so happy!!!! .... I seen her have at least the next 10 more (after the 8 that I found but haven't got all out of tank cause they keep hiding in the rocks fast little things).... I really need your help now I have no idea what i'm doing with them. shes still having more but I turned off the light to the tank and its dark in my room even in morning so I'll get the rest of them out tomorrow. I will also try and get a pic tomorrow for you all to see...

A Happy new fishy mommy

Erin

congrats on the fry. The little ones will eat what the big ones do just make sure the flakes are ground up very tiny, feed them 3-5 times a day, just a tiny bit. Make sure you dont overfeed them. If you see food gathering in the bredder/tank then siphon it out. :)

make sur ethe mommy doesnt eat them!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!

good luck with them

:kana: I've got 22 that I know of, few in the tank that I can't get little things are way to fast. They are only ten hours old.... GuppyDude you were right 24 hours she had them!!

I'm having a problem with one of the babies it can't seen to swim it just lays on its side and try's to swim but doesn't seen to go anywhere... I think mommy or the other female in there had a few bites for the road just on that one the others got away.....while she was having them I was feeding the mommy so she would leave the babies alone worked to... I don't know how many she ate though. other ting she's still a little fat and also had a red gravid spot till I turned the light on now its black as it was before the babies are so little some of them ate but what can I do to get all of them to eat something, is there something I can buy that they like ??

Thanks everyone I'm really happy :flex: Its really cool watching her have them I should have taped it lol but I wanted to get the babies out so the other one would stop going after them...

If anyone can think of anything to feed them thats small and know they like please let me know. I'm afraid I won't do it right and i'll kill them all :(
P.s how would I go about getting the left over food out of the bottom of the net?

Thanks again Erin :flex:

I've got 23 fry they have ate a little now that i know how to make the food so they will eat it but a breeder net have got to be kidding me Should i take it back and get a 5 g tank ???? this thing is making me crazy and it keeps breaking and its not going to be easy to clean. ideas from anybody is welcome????? I just don't know where to put them all shes still got more fry in her and I have another one that is pregnant :/ one of my males jumped the tank dividerto get to the females and i know he will be able to jump the net breeder.

Would a 5 g be big enough for 23 fry maybe a little more
the fish just jumped it again what am I going to do with him!!

Please help
Erin

Congratulations. Expect to lose some, I always have. I've had some still born, some born sick, thats nature I guess. I keep mine in a 5 gal to get established when born, and then after a couple of weeks, I transfer them into a 10 gal grow out tank. I grind flakes up in a cup with a knife handle until it's almost a powder and feed them that. Seems to work okay. Good luck :)

concrats, i grind up the flackes and mix them with tank water till its a fine past. then i use a turky baster to distribute it at the bottom of the breeder. to prevent them from jumpin the divider just lower the water lvl in ur tank. they wont jump if they dont think they can make it. do not expect for all babys to live, i always lose fry even wen i take extra good care of them.

gl, and just buy a 5g if the net gives u troble.

 we looked at tanks and found a 5 g for 39.99 but we could buy a 10 g everything with it for 29.99 I'm going somewhere else tomorrow and try and find something ...
I found the spot where my guppy I named shyster got over at, right beside the filter there was just enough room for him to get over it, I took care of that... I did take some water out just to make sure he doesn't jump I got the net working a little i'm just not going to mess with it again till I get a tank or see if my friend will let me use one of hers... My husband and I both want a big tank but can't get it right now I see 55 g tanks in the paper for $120 with everything from rocks to bubble maker thingy and stand I should probably look into one of those... what do you guys think of that ????(i mean with it not being new ) I would clean or buy new rocks and things like that...

Someone said to leave the tank light off all day and she would probably have her babies well I did leave it off and the room was dark and I had come home to 8 little fry... who are now swimming happily around the net with the other 15 the one i was telling you about is still alive and eating does anyone think he/s will make it
he seems to be doing alright once he gets up and going just can't seem to swim to straight kinda on his side..

my guppy still has some fry inside her how long do you think it will take her to have those??

i dont know about ur gimpy fish but iv had sum that were a lil lame just after birth. they aventually learned to swim just took sum time. in her remaining gravid spot can u see eyes or wat looks like baby fish because sum times there are still undeveloped eggs inside her.

gl :D

The 10 gal would be a better grow out tank for the fry. Guppies quite often have loads of fry. I have seen batches of fry that number almost 100. so a bigger tank at a better price is a good thing.

On using a used tank....i do this all the time. I am constantly scouring the for sale sections of the papers and keeping an ear open for someone dumping a tank. Just ensure that it does not leak before you buy or ensure that if it leaks you can bring it back. Also clean it well with a mild vinegar solution and then rinse very well with a hose and you should be good to go. HTH :)

thank you tstenback thats helped me alot... we have lots of tanks for sale in the paper sometimes i see up to 20 people wanting to get rid of their tanks and also comes with everything you need...
my sister-in-law, one of her brother's has a 75g tank and I was talking to his wife and said man I would love to have that she said no you wouldn't they are really hard to keep clean.... my thought though if you have a big enough filter and keep up with it you shouldn't have any problem right??? I will keep looking in the paper and see what I find (I wouldn't have thought to ask if it leaks thanks I'll remember that) :D :) ;)

well back to the babies they are all still alive and the one that got its little fin ate is doing great he's up and about when he wants to be and the rest are doing great too everyone is eating and so far haven't lost one baby.so far so good!!! lol

  B)

the larger tanks are not harder to kjeep clean. there is just more of it to clean., but if you do water changes weekly and use the gravel vac to do them then just switch which areas of the tank you vac from week to week and all should be well. :)

thats what I thought.. the only with them is that they are never home they stay at my brother's house for weeks on end and nobody is out there to take care of them... if you want fish you should treat them like your children they didn't ask to be put in that tank so why should they not keep them clean I try and keep mine very clean...

I just can't believe I haven't lost any babies yet I'm happy I haven't so I must be doing something right!!

I have a ??? we are going to be moving in maybe a year or 2 how would I move the fish so they don't get stressed out and should the tank be one of the first things I put up?? or if i get the other 10 g tank should I already have it set up at the other house so the fish can go right in it???? just wondering

Thanks Erin

i dunno i guess just leave the fish at your old home until everything else is moved then have them be that last thong to get moved. then set up a tank at ur new home so wen you move the fish they can go right in. they sell those lil bag buddies peeple use to ship fish in. the are good to keep fish for about 24 hours just in a single bag.

how far away are u moveing?
