Hi I read another post like this but couldn't find it just now. My female gupppie has white spots all over it that appear to be resting on it not in it, its fins down. This fish is new do you think its white spot diesese or fungal infection? Help would be appreciated, tank specs in sig

IF it appears 'cotton like' then its probably fungi (get some fungi remedy, feed it live food and bump up the temp) if its white spot then it just appears as white spots (Get white spot rememdy feed it live food and bump up the temp). ;)

Yeah thanks I dont think its fungal, i'm treating it with ick treatment. i'm going to pop up the temp a tad, and I might chop up some worms from the garden. Thanks again

add more airation as higher the temp the less disolved oxgyen there is. The treatment will only work on the free swimming parasites so it will take longer to work but keep the meds going and

don't forget REMOVE THE CARBON

best of luck

Good news! I took out the carbon gave them extra airation and gave the treatment, its already better, i'm going to keep treating it for a bit longer though.. And to top it all off the nitrite levels are down to 0.25 thats a drop of 4.75 in a week! Thanks for all your help.

Great. Sounds like your tank is beginning to cycle. The ich (whitespot) was probably caused by the stress of the nitrite in the water. Make sure you complete the course of treatment as that will hopefully keep ich at by in future.

After the last spot has gone i would continue treatment for a further 10 days just kill any more free living parasites in the gravel etc.

How is it looking at the moment?

Hi, I have the same problem, but only in my fry. I read somewhaere that if you use teh ich medication with the fry, they'll die because its too strong of a medication. I have the temp up a bit and I'm airation the fry tank. Is there any other way to get rid of this?
