Lol well I couldn't afford the size tank I wanted so went for the next best thing. I have no idea what these tubs are actually meant for, its the wrong dimensions for a storage tub and the plastics way to thick but it makes a cool pond.

The tub measures 100cm x 55 cm x 30 cm and comes to about 43g or 160l all up. The little planter on the side is a homemade filter, as since it's for goldfish I figured I could sue as much filter media as possible, the filters run by a power head which is in the tank.

Anyway what I wanted to know was would it be fine to have just a pair of goldfish? or do they prefer groups? as I honestly would be happy with just a couple of fishies, since I have 4 other tanks as well LOL. Oh and the reason this has been set up is Mum got me a surprise goldfish present, poor Onyx has been stuck in a tropical tank for the past week while I arranged his own cold water tank.

Thanks
Emma

If you are going for fancies, you could probably put about three in there, which would be perfect if you only want a few fish. However, I would not put single-tail varieties in there since commons can reach a good 24" by maturity, which would make even one fairly cramped in 40g :good:

Two fancies would be fine. How much turnover does the pump head do?

Sounds good, but you will need to do more general water and gravel cleaning as the filter wont get much of a bacterial colony established if its just filter wool you are using.

Theres ceramic noodles, bioballs and some coarse sponges in there to, LOl its all under the filter wool as the wool was a last minute thought.

Hmm I just remeasured the tub and its actually 200l LOL, about 55g LOL someone got there price tags wrong. The first measurements are a bit off its actually 85 x 65 x 35
