Can anyone tell me why my Ghost koi may have jumped out my pond? :(

The pond is 12ft by 8ft and 4 ft deep. He was the only carp in the pool and was about 30 cms long there are also 7 small coldfish in pool and 2 medium sized and they all seemed quite happy.

The pool is well oxygenated, plants water fall and fountain and also has a good filter system? A friend lost all their carp on one night the same way! are they not happy or is it a jump for joy???

Please help as i would like to get another one or should i have 2 and a net?

sorry about your fish. :(
have you tested your water recently? also i think its possible when fish breed they are pushed out the pond. some people have flat stones running around the edge that form a kind of lip to stop that happening.
a net would be the best way to go i think.
cant help with the stocking issue though. good luck.

Thanks for your reply, will test the water dare i say i have never tested it :/ we can take samples into local fish supplier and they test for £1 or can you recomend a testing kit - very new to all this !

A cat could have caught it out and then abandoned it- my mums cats when through a stage of catching the koi karp and then leaving them on the garden path next to the pond...

No we thought of that but whats even worse is that we were sat down the garden that evening and heard a few big splashes just hadnt realise he had jumped out as it was very dark. That must of been when it happened but didnt find him until morning there were no marks at all on him :(
