i told her to get some melafix or some maracyn 2...what should she put the temp at? its' around 77 right now.

Temperature doesn't affect drospy very much, so 77 is probably fine, unless she wants to raise it for theraputic reasons. I recommend Maracyn Two, it's the only thing I've had success with. Melafix will probably do nothing for drospy. Also, tell her to keep his water extra super clean, it's helpful. Best wishes to them!

clueless side of me talking, but whats dropsy?

Dropsy is a disesase when the scales pop out and sometimes the fish lies on its side. I couldnt think of anything else to describe it
