hi me again can sum 1 pls help i got 5 zebra danios
and i was looking to tell male from female .and found that females have a silver background and larger space between there lines

now i think i have female and shes become my fav out all them and she so cheeky i only had her 1 day and when i go to the tank window get close she comes to it then if i place my nose on the glas she comes to me and (kisses my nose thru glass)

now i sat watchign her for hour when suddenly she swam away from all the others whent to the corner of tank and whent to the bottom

she stayed there doing nothing i thought she was going to die and didnt no wot to do i paniced and just thought (maybe she pregnant ? or being a eggbearer was she going to hide from them all to lay or even get a male to come join her)

she stayed there for 30 mins DID NOT MOVE BUT LOOKED FINE
so i watched more to see if she laying eggs but i coulsnt see she put herself right in the corner

then i turn away look back and she was off SUPER FAST swam rnd tank whent to join others and now has NOT left them agian is happy swimming rnd

i cheeked waterand its perfect for them

WOT HAPPEND WAS SHE IN SHOCK DIEING
or trying to tease a male to come join her or even laying

i do have to say shes around 1bit " and has a big belly i have 2 with bigger stomach then the rest but this 1 seems massive to the rest ????

oh her name is she i hope (hehe) STAR cus she lights up the tank

Hi :)

Usually when non bottom dwellers sit on the bottom of the tank, it means they're stressed. I can't remember offhand... did you do a fishless cycle?

Anyway, I don't know why your fish sat on the bottom for a while and then joined the others, but I can say, with a fair bit of confidence, that it didn't have to do with spawning. When danios spawn, it's not really such a subdued and private affair. They kind of swim around frantically, appearing to chase each other, while the females release eggs and the males fertilize them. I believe the whole school participates, as opposed to them pairing off in breeding pairs.

THATS WOT HAPPEND

kinda they where all together chasing each other my baby and the other (female looking where the leaders )

the other 3 males looking where chasing them and i mean chasing for 2 3 mins
1 even flipped out the water it was cool

was the reason i was watching them so long i never saw them do it

then straight after she whent to the bottom corner and stayed there for few mins

when u sed they all together going mad sounded bang on could she have and then

NEEDED REST ? so whent off on own for few mins to calm down then carry on

If she's continuing to appear healthy now and doesn't show signs of stress later today, then I'd guess that's probably exactly what it was. She was recovering quietly.

helppppp me plssssss

she was fine whent off with the rest for sum time swimming perfectly

then she whent to the other corner and stayed ther and i sure i saw sumthing pop out from the back of her and she kida whipped her tais when doing it then swan off

seemed fine again then i just saw her under block hiding wiggle ing her tail and back

i thought she was fitting so really worried i pt hand in dropped sum food she got it seemd ok lol (1 weird maddam)

but now shes back floating at top really wierd ...when she was hiding in brick im sure she dropped sumthing and whipped tail again shot off .when she swam off others seemed to swim over start eating sumthing im sure of it

she is real fat compared my step dad come ni sed she is real big to against the rest them her belly huge

sorry for spelling typing fast while trying to watch her

ive put lil food in and turned off light to see if this calms her

if she is in shock or sumthing wot can i do ill want to cry if she goes

shes so nice and the rest seem fine ive dun water thats ok

also to fish less cycle im not completely sure wot that is

i ran tank for rnd week with no fish then treated water and added sum from bros tank ad sum gravel then bought interpet treatment to help start bacteria faster

so i think so the water is perfect for them i cheeked on fichprofile.com

ph perfect heat food :((

When you say you checked the water and it's perfect for them, what is it that you checked? If you didn't cycle the tank before adding the fish, I suspect that's your problem. How long have the fish been in the tank? Do you have an ammonia test? By adding some gravel from your brother's tank, you will have aided the cycling process, but unless you also have aged filter media, the tank still needs to cycle (build up nitrifying bacteria to convert fish waste to harmless nitrates).

yea i cheeked ph was 7.5 i couldnt get it better says on every site thats bang on

i put gravel and water and filter from another tank

the fileter is fluval 203 external 3 filter chanber i put mature in each of them

i had them 1 day so nitrite nitrate cant be to high can it

i will test in hour i have kits for ph nitrite nitrate

heat and ph are fine so only that ....but the other fish are fine all going mad swimming round toget her there fine just 1 of them

i had it running for ruffly 7 days with watrer and matured filter stuff and water gravel

and also some INTERPET FRESH START AQUARIUM TREATMENT and trizyme BIO START

AMONIA TEST NITRITE ? NITRATE NH03 03 ??

ALL SO CONFUSING SORRY

Alright... with all that mature filter media/gravel/water, your cycling process should be pretty smooth. However, seven days after adding the fish should be when your ammonia levels would be peaking. It's possible that that's the case. On the other hand, if all your other fish continue to be healthy and this one continues to be ill, it may just be an unhealthy fish. I don't personally test my water much, so I'm not the one to help with all the different chemistry kits. If it were my tank, I'd do a 20% water change and put some stress coat in the water.

ok i cheeked for nitrite ? nitrate 1 them amonia

and test said if shows pink then its still maturing and to carry on adding the bio treat ment to spead up the bacteria

I HAVE TO SAY SHES ACTING FINE AGAIN maybe shes like me and mad hehe

I'm not sure what you mean? You tested for ammonia and the results showed that there is ammonia in your water? Either way, I'd do the water change. 20 - 25%. If you're showing positive results for ammonia or nitrites, I'd continue doing water changes every day until both are at 0.

Not sure if this helps at all but I'v got a tank thats only about 2 months old had a couple of fish die the other day not sure what it was as the nitrite levels where between 0 and 0.1 but I've been doing small water changes everyother day and the rest seem fine, will continue doing this until the levels stop rising. May be worth doing the same... I definately should have left the tank longer and put the fish in slower (instead of 6 one week and another 6 about 7 days later. My next one I'll do a fishless cycle.

i got a interpet pack kit

it starts off the bacteria faster you no (half the cycle time )
i also did most other stuff i could by adding water gravel media

now i read the pack leaflet again and it said ITS NORMAL to turn pic as it did

saying theres only a little bit of amonia i guess then said to add more trizyme

quote within hours the bacteria and enzymes in trizyme will be activated and begin to setup the essential biological cycles in your filter

so it should be pink for 2 more days ive now added trizyme and wll leave for 1 day then again test nitrite and add sum more trizym as directed

within these 3 days when retesting for nitrite the water should stay clear meaning the tank has completly cycled and fish are safe you may wait 7 days and add sum more (have table to say how many fish to add and safest

thanks guys think im worrying to much and all seems as best i can get it
4 danios super happy 2 golden barbs inseparableand happy

my step dad said mite be nothing ive done that it mite been ill allready any thing could be possible but well ill try every thing can keep it perfect :fun:
