whoa, heres a list of things that might help

Too much light, not enough water changes, try and get some current in there, maybe some algae eaters, i know they would never starve

thats all i can think of

holy crap.. thats a lot of algae... im guessing the tanks are in direct sunlight.. plants would be in heaven in that tank lmao..

definately get some algea eaters.. they will help clean it up.. but you should probably also buy something to clean it off the glass.. once you clean it off the glass, do a 30% water change and you should see a big difference..

but yea its probably from sunlight im guessing

i have a filter and some air tip things that let out all of the bubbles so im not sure what i can do about the current i have an algea fish so what else can i do thanks for your help also if i start doing more water changes once a week? do i have to clean the whole thing right now and how much water do i change

theres also nothing on the glass its all in the water and that tanks are not really in direct sunlight

really.. green water huh... hmmm.... they sell stuff for cloudy water.. i wonder if they sell stuff for green water :S..

id definately do some big water changes and see if you can eliminate the problem.. that is weird.. never seen anything like that before

i know its really weird but i dont think i should change all the water as i can get it clear with doing that but thats it and in a week when i go for a water change too late the water is green

thats why im confused ive never had this happen till summer started
ill have to go to my lps and check out what the problem is

Well.. My brother in law had the same problem in his 75 gallon Oscar tank.

The water was green just like yours. It was not algae at all and everytime we cleaned it it would be the same color. I found out what it was.

His oscar is about 14 inches long. It is massive. He was always feed live feeder fish, large cichlid pellets, tubifex cubes, and nightcrawlers from bait shops...

He really loves night crawlers.

Come to find out the nightcrawlers were injected with green neon that was harmless to it and the fish. Once you put the worm on the hook it would release the dye to attract the fish.

Oscar would tear the worms to shreds and the green neon dye went everywhere, Not knowing what it was at the time.

Are you feeding anything Nightcrawlers? LOL

Just my suggestion and story of what it could be.

:grr: :hyper:  WOOOOO  :hyper: :grr:

i would say
If its in direct sunlight move the tank!!!

1.Take about 5% of the water out and clean ur top sponge in that!
2.Then clean your rocks in the 5% water
3.Then clean the gravel (stir it up) or us a vac, in the tank!
4.Then clean all the glass inside
5.Then do about 50-60% water change
6. Then leave it over night and then do a 20% water change
7. Then leave it

NOTE: Go to ur lfs and get some green water treatment

ONE THING YOUR FISH MITE GET STRESSED BUT IT WILL BE SOOOOOO MUCH BETTER IN THE LONG RUN!!!! :p

It might be algae just the same. There is a single-celled algae variation that occurs with excess nutrients and sunlight in the tank. It also lives inside the filters, substrate, on aquarium glass, on the fish, plants and everything else.

Basically, there is no way to get rid of it through cleaning. The only things you can do is block off any way for direct sunlight to get in, reduce the amount of fertilizer/fish food in the tank, and increase the frequency of water changes.

If this doesn't help in a month, you'll need to take more severe measures in the form of adding "green water" solutions to the tank. These break apart 1 celled organisms, and begin to clear the water. However, you SHOULD NOT RESORT TO THIS IF YOU HAVE TO. These solutions have a good chance of ill effects on your fish and plants. They will also kill almost all of your beneficial bacteria (which are also single-celled)! This means you might have to cycle the tank all over again!!!

thanks for the info everyone its very helpful and i will do all of the falling well listed above

after doing the things i need to do im just gonna change the setup and retire one of the two tanks ( im more thinking about keeping the 10gal) well yes anyways so i just want suggestions and pictures of setups i could do for a 29gal or 10gal which one to retire and what are the coolest fish to get for those thanks alot
