Hi I need some help
I came back from holiday to find my fishes tank filthy as the feeding block had clogged the water.
It was midnight and I was so tired so just put them both (2) in another container but with no lid. Silly I know (I just didn't think) and I am beating myself up about it now.
Anyway Bruno jumped out and I found him on the top barely breathing and he was quite crispy by then. I have no idea how long he was out for.
I put him straight back in the container and after an hour he seemed to be a little better. At first he was just floating on his side trying to breathe. He had lots of scales stuck in his gills so I GENTLY removed these with tweezers and he then seemed to breathe better.
Woke up this morning and all he is doing is floating on the top. He isn't eating either. He also has a white fungus all on the side that he landed on the top, it looks quite bad.
What can I do and what will happen to him. Shall I use a fungal treatment?
I'm really distressed as is he!
Thankyou

Sounds bad i'm afraid. Goldies though are resilient and can come back from something like this.
The only thing i would say to do is get some aquarium salt and use it to .2% this being 1 level teaspoon per gallon and then again 12 hours later. This will help with the breathing and stop any infection of the slime coat.
All you can really do is wait and see if he comes out of this, its 50/50 i'm afraid as the lack of oxygen may be crucial here.
If you can get some melafix to help with any injuries then try that too.

Keep his water warm to boost his immune system and add plenty of air to help as well. Keep him in a quiet place and with a bit of luck he may come round.

Morning,
Thanks for replies.
He was dead when I got home yesterday  so he is now in the garden resting.
Feel guilty, I'm so stupid.

I am very sorry for bruno, but dont beat yourself up too much. It sounds like you really tried to help him and well we all have our dumb moments(especially when tired) which unfortuantely sometimes hurts our little pets.

Thanks for that.
It's crap isn't it.
These forums are great I've never seen them before! Only found them in desperation but it's amazing how much knowledge we can abtain from eachother.
Thanks again all :look:

Really sorry you lost your fish.
