Over the last day or so I have noticed that the fins on my Danios are starting to look very frayed at the edges, with some with quite large area missing from them. The fish seem happy enough, and they do not seem to have been chased any more than normal. I have had them for about a month now. They are all the long tailed variety. What can I do? Will they grow back?
The water measurements are all spot on so I dont think the water quality is to blame.
Can anyone please help.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have any other fish in your tank that could have been nipping on their fins?

No, all of the other fish have been minding their own business. By the way, none of them have the same problem.

What other fish do you have?
What size is your tank?
What are your water parameters?

As mentioned the water seems fine. Nitrite at 0, ammonia at 0, and Nitrate varys from 10-20 depending on when water change was done. This has remained constant since the tank cycled 2 months ago. the other fish I have are as follows.

6 Danios
4 Cherry Barbs
10 Golden Barbs
4 Lemon Tetras
4 Diamond Tetras
4 Corys
1 Algae eater (cant remember the name, sorry)

These are in a 180litre tank.

I hope this helps.

Your water is fine and your stocking levels are in no way overstocked. I am not an expert on barbs.....except that I know tiger barbs are notorius fin nippers........could your other barbs be too?
If not....you may be looking at some fin rot........but it doesn't really sound like it.HTH. :)
