My first fish

My best friend (one trick pony) has got me my first fish tank its a 5.5 gl Hex!

Im going to get a betta!

so far i have the tank and hood, the gravel and driftwood, and the de chlorinator. and 2moro we going to get a couple of plants!

one question neither of us are sure on is whether it needs to be cycled?

i will post some pics when i get it set up!

Cycling or not depends on you. It makes for less maintenance if you cycle. I try to cycle all my tanks. Unfortunatly I have the habit of getting behind on water changes in uncycled tanks so the bettas I had in those have ultimitly ended up with Velvet. Since I have started cycling them first I haven't had one single case of Velvet. Good luck with your new boy and can't wait for them pics!

you can ask lots of questions here. there are some fantastic betta breeders who'll be glad to help!



as for cycling, if you keep up with the water changes you don't need to worry about cycling but like AlexsDaddy says, you don't want to get lazy or there'll be problems!
