My first fish ever is sick...

My kissing gourami has been sucking the slime off of my fish and now i found a dead guppy that has been in the water for a couple days (by the looks of it).. also my first fish ever ( a swordtail ) has a white cotton like spots all around his dorsal fin. I have had fungus before with molly's and this looks a little different. Im not really sure what to do. Im open to any suggestions.

sorry 2 hear that! id suggest u do a 10% water change every day 4 the next few days, to help clean the water abit, which may also help the fin rot clear up abit. as 4 ur kissing gourami, i have 1 with my guppys, and he is fine, buthe sudnt really be sucking the slime off of other fish! If u have another tank that u think he cud go in i wud move him b4 he starts cleaning the other fish to death!

im not really sure how 2 deal with fin rot, as ive neva had it in my tank, but there are treatments that a few pet stores sell, mayb try and find 1 thats called anti fin rot, im not sure of who make it, but it may well help u out until sum1 else gives u sum ideas on how 2 treat it. hope this helps.

Water improvement by means of reduced feeding and lowering of temp.

Melafix is a great remedy, as is salt and salt baths if you don't have cories in your tanks.
