I HAVE PERSONALLY KEPT CARDINALS,NEONS,AND A FEW OTHER TETRAS WITH FIGHTERS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL

a lot of people on this board have had bad experiences keeping bettas with tetras because tetras are very nippy and fast. They can stress your betta by nipping its fins off, and they can outcompete it for food. of course occassionally there are folk who crop up that have had no trouble keeping bettas with tetras. It tends to depend on the personality of the fish involved. Regardless, whatever fish you get, make sure you have somewhere to remove the betta if it is getting nipped and stressed or if it attacks the other fish.

I haven't really mixed my bettas with other fish much myself but i've heard good things about harlequin rasboras, cory cats, and otos.

i have kept betta with tetras, barbs even angel fish in the past with no problems, but i personally would never even think about doing it again, i have a few females with tetras

i might just leave him on his own then:

also i have 2paradise fish in a seperate tank and wanting some new fish to go in with them, maybie another paradise fish, any advice

ps. the 2i have at the minute have short fins so i think they are female

dont really know! say an argos catalog square! filtered etc.. was going to put the fighter in with the paradise but been informed that this wouldnt be a good idea

both tanks are about the same size, and just wanting a few other fish in each that will get on with my fish already in there

that isn't that big i personally would keep a lone betta in there, and i am not an expert on paradise fish but i'd say its too small for them too

will a beta be ok in this on its own? i dont want it to die? its abit boring for it atm but buying some plants etc tonight to make it more homely, the paradise fish are in atank the same size and ive had the quite a while now, there really lively and never had any problems with them, just wanted to give them a new addition to there tank, but dont want them to become uncomftable!

will the figther like a few plants?

also for some reason it keeps sitting next to the filter, even when its on really low, thought it was getting sucked into it at first but swims away after a while, any reason its doing this you think. it usually just sits on the bottom next to the filter goes up to the top then goes back down straight away

its wierd

the fighter will be fine on its own, i have a male in a 2.5 gal on his own and he's happy :good:
as i said i am no expert on paradise fish, it just seems a little small
do you know how many gallons/litres the tank holds?

have you got a photo of your tank and i'll gauge what mine is off it! dont have the slightest

do they like alot of plantage?

go see if you can measure it, cm or inches would be best, then we can work out the gallons from there

sorry never got tank size, its not massive but big enough and pleantly of room for him to swim etc:)

*for the first few days ive had him he's just be sat on the bottom and not swimming very much, so last night i went in gave the tank a good clean and added some new stones and things and a nice bigplant, popped him back in, and he's now a totally different fish  never stops moving, swims all over now especially likes swimming through the plant and near the light.

must have just been bored :good: think im definatly leaving him on his own now aswel, seems happy
