my fig 8 puffer wont eat :( he hasnt now for a few days n im starting to get worried, hes so thin :(
my spotted is eatin fine so i figure its probly nothing to do with the environment, ive tried isolating him in a tub with a cockle and he still wont eat, what can i do?

its ok!!! i put a worm in with him n hes chompin it like a good'n!! :D

edit: sorry he bit one end of it n then left it :(

Are you keeping your green spotted in with your fig 8? If so, then it could be that hes stressed. Take him out and put him in a tank on his ow.

he's in brackish water yeh , hes lived fine with my spotted for a long time i dont understand why he would suddenly start gettin stressed  though granted my spotted is a bit bigger than the fig 8?

Well you may want to start watching the two puffers and getting a cycled tank ready for him to swop in if necessary. If you start cycling now, and quickly, your puffer may be the happiest puffer alive. Also, Fig8 requires lower salinity than GSP.

yeah i put a worm in and he ate a tiny bit of it when he saw it moving but wouldnt eat anymore so i tried putting another lively one in and he wouldnt go for it.
dunno what to do :S shall i try some of those tiny bloodworm things?

you put a worm in? as in an earthworm?

i would try anything live (i mean anything live sold as a live fish food) such as bloodworm, brine shrimp, maybe daphnia (although they are very small)
you can buy them at most good lfs in small sealed plastic bags for about 50p each

also try going to your local pets at home, they are usually infested with snails and if you ask they will either get them out for you, or let you help yourself to the snails and you can have them for nothing, or a small donation to the charity box at the cash desk. rinse them before feeding them to your puffer, but I dont know any puffer that wont go crazy for snails.

cheers mate, ill give that a try n get back to you. safe
