Actually i saw something like this used with just rocks. They guy took a large flat piece and glued the little pieces under it to form a cave. I have been thinking for awhile about this, then i saw you do it!! The gutter elbow worked great because of its flat surfaces and also provides a wider entrance/exit than pvc.

What did you put on the surface to get that look?

I used the same gravel thats in my tank. I had some left over. Its a larger sized natural colored gravel. I also added small pieces of shale I got from the river.
