hey guys, i went to walmart today, and i checked out the fish, they all seemed healthy, i only saw like 5 dead ones in all the tanks, thats not too bad i guess. i went to the bettas and they were sum of the healthiest walmart bettas iv ever seen, the they were in these big cups not lil ones and they were all so spunky and happy :D ( they also had that blu water in there to, and iv heard thats a good thing ) and then i checked out the females. they looked rely good to, i was temped to buy a couple so bad :D im catching the diseaese! they had a couple red ones and a whit one with a lil red on its tail, and another white with a tealish tint to it, i wanted them all! the males were pretty plain thogh -_- the females were rely small they must of only been 2 months old. i didn't buy any fish, but i did buy stuff for my betta tank. niw for the bad part of my day  , my guenie pig died  he had a tooth that got knocked loose, and i didn't notice until yesterday, it must of been painful because he couldn't eat. we removed the tooth that was only hangin by a thread and removed him from his cage and put him in a small aquarium so the rabbit wouls leave him alone. we tryed feeding him mushed carrots and he wouldn't eat, so we went to walmart and bought baby food ( like carrots and stuff ( his favorite) ) but wen we got home it was to late  i feal so bad :byebye: maybe my new fishy will cheer me up, hes comeing either today or tumarrow so, i guess that will b good. ill try to post sum pics of my set up again, iv got a filter in there now and im gunna try and get sum live plants.

now iv got a question, iv been raiseing (or trying to any way) these brine shrimps and they hatch and are good for about 2 days and they starte dieing, iv got a teaspoon of salt per quart and i know theres alot of them but their just in a lil fish bowl, do any of u guys grow ur shrimp? and if not where can i buy adult brine shrimp, frozen, or dried?

Very sorry to hear about your guinea pig :-( At least you got to spend the time you did with him... I felt the same way when my hamster "Speedy" died (he died in the middle of the night w/ a mouth full of seeds - maybe a heart attack?) Anyway, I'm really sorry for you loss.

Also, that's really cool that the bettas at your wal-mart are taken care of... it's not too often you can say that about a chain pet store/department.

I don't grow any brine shrimp, but I do have frozen ones. I got mine from the pet supermarket and petsmart. You may want to try places like that... they're usually off on the side, but I'm sure you can ask someone that works there if they have any. (Before you make the trip, try calling all the pet places and asking if they carry frozen brine shrimp for tropical fish... saves you a lot of effort of doing a brine shrimp hunt) ;)

:D lol thank u, ill try my lfs i guess but im not positive they will carry it -_- thay have baby brine shrimp and the eggs ( iv got both for my fry ) but they dont got blood worms so im thinking they wont have em.

iv gota a petco, but im almost positive they wont have em ;)

well thnx for cheerin me up a lil, much appritiated :)

sorry to hear about your guenie pig :-( its so sweet that you went out to get baby food for him to eat - that really shows how much your cared.

im soo excited about your new betta boy :fun: he’s simply gorgeous! i cant wait to see pics of him in his new home, im sure he’ll look stunning.

Raising Brine Shrimp to adulthood is not easy and probably not worth it in time or money (i've thought about it and researched it and decided not to). Most people just hatch the eggs to have baby brine shrimp to feed to their fry. But if you want to read up on it, here is a link I found during my research with real good information.

Otherwise, check with your fish shops to see if they sell frozen (or even live, as mine does occassionally) adult brine shrimp. I can get frozen at my lfs as well as PetSmart.

That's funny, cause that's what I thought too back when I considered it. I had sea monkeys as well as a kid and I don't remember it being so hard, Lol. But I guess raising the quantity that I'd need to be worth it is what makes it tougher. I'm lucky though, my lfs gets them in quite often now, so my fish still get live BS on occassion.

id like to starte all my fish on a live diet, with a lil bit of vegies and flakes in there 2 but its so hard to obtain the stuff

I hatch BBS for my guppy fry, so I used to give some to my bettas as well. I see some BBS food for sale in the net, maybe you can use that to grow them to adulthood? Anyway, I stopped giving the bettas the BBS coz one of them got tailrot and I'm afraid the bacteria might be caused by that...

i to use frozen bbs and it does say on the pack to remove uneaten food. after a feeding of that i suction out the water to keep it from getting nasty.
