I was in the other categories debating over whether my frys were betta or guppies. By it turns out that they were zebra danios. It struck me unnotticed... Iran to my lfs but they were out of BBS and all they had were Bloodworms. I was kinda pissed... So I have a package of frozen blood worms and tons of starving danio frys. I'm now feedinjg them some egg paste but I'm afraid that it won't be enough and the frys aren't eating them that much. What should I feed them?

If at all possible, I'd still go out to another LFS and get some frozen BBS, or get some eggs and hatch them. Or at least some Liquifry #2 for egglayers.

In the meantime, what is the egg paste? Is it a brand name item? If you made it yourself, how did you make it?

If you DIDN'T make it yourself, try hard boiling an egg and then mashing it up. Feed them small amounts frequently. That should hold you over until you can get some BBS.

Fry don't eat very much at one time, but they do need to eat often. Water quality is a BIG issue, too, so don't overfeed.

o and... what's liquifry?

EDIT: Nevermind... I figured it out... hehe... but isn't it Liquifry No.1 if you're talking about egglayers?

Yes it is :) I often get them confused myself as well. Liquifry #1 is for egglayers, Liquifry #2 is for livebearers

Danio fry are quite hardy fish really. I had mine being born when I was on holiday, and they had to be at least 5 days old before I found out about them! Since then they've been eating very finely crunched flake food for the rest of their lives! Mixed in with frozen bloodworms and stuff ofcourse

I think your fry will be ok on egg yolk till you can go out and get liquifry and baby brine shrimp for them :) Try very finely crushed up flake food as well though. Don't just throw it in, make it really tiny with your fingers, and then keep it pinched inbetween your fingers when lower it underwater and moving it around. This way they'll be able to eat it right away

Good luck with your fry :)
