My daughter brought home a crayfish the beginning of last summer. We put her in our 55 gallon tank, along with two Balas, a few female Bettas, a few Serpae Tetras, a couple of purple pulchers, and a couple of zebra danios. Basically, everyone plays nice together. The crayfish never seemed to go after any of the fish, and they pretty much left her alone.
Well, after seeing her hiding for a couple of days, I noticed her under a decoration, and she had what looks like hundreds of little gray bubbles under her tail. My daughter tells me that she's got eggs.

Does anyone know what happens next? How long will they stay on her? Do they hatch? Will they be little crayfish crawling all over my tank? Will my other fish eat them? Will the big crayfish mom eat them? I certainly don't want a whole bunch of crayfish in my tank. Will she protect them? How long before they start hatching? Any ideas? Should I take her out and put her in another tank? Please, any advice will be appreciated.

sadly the eggs will be infertile, though this depends on the type of cray you have. in most cases you need two cray one of each to breed. Marble Crayfish are asexual. my guess is the eggs will vanish one day, as the cray eats them.
