fungus starting in places I moved them to the hospital tank I dont know what to treat cories with could someone help me out a little.

Hi fishkeeper,

'looks like fungus'...could be columnaris, which is actually a bacterial infection, in which case I'd suggest Melafix...perhaps Pimafix as well if it seems to be further along or if it's near the mouth area.

True fungus only affects things in a state of decomposition....rotting food or a prev. injury.

where are the spots forming? anything else you could add....they still eating okay? any redness anywhere?
how's the water?

Also, the pleco mentioned in another thread...would u say the spot looks the same?...same tank?

no the pleco is in a cold water tank with 2 black moors the spots are on thier fins and it isnt ich I sure wish it was I know it is fingus I noticed some rotted food around a banana plant that is in the tank I have 2 of those things and they arent nothing but trouble. I cant clean around them

Hi fish keeper sharks and mollies :)

It sounds like a bacterial infection to me, as well. I would suggest using Kanacyn which is an antibiotic. It will treat both the primary infection (Columnaris) and also secondary infections (Aeromonas) and is will not hurt your bacterial filtration.

It will also help if you keep the water temperature at 75-76 degrees and no higher and if you add an airstone to increase the oxygen level in the water since these will inhibit the growth of the bacteria you are trying to get rid of.

Before beginning treatment I would do a good water change and bottom cleaning.

Good luck. I hope your corys get well.
