I added new fish yesterday. 2 new albino corys, 6 danios, and 1 honey gouramis.
-

I had 6 mellow corys (4 emerald, 2 albino) and got 2 more albino. I added them, today all my corys seem to be going nuts.

What the heck happened?!

They were mellow and chill normally beforehand. And these are the larger ones (over a year old) and now they're swimming up and down the glass, sniffing the gravel, getting more air from the surface. They were a bit active previous. But now... It's like they got a sniff of some kind of dope. xO

Please help? I want to calm them down... The danios are being hyper (normal) but the honey gouramis isn't really used to all the activity yet.

It could be that with the addition of new fish, you have triggered spawning behaviors. Did you happen to do a big water change before/after adding the new fish?

I changed the water some, and added a new water (which would've been cooler) but I've had them for over a year and tried to get them to spawn and they never did... And the new ones are still young ones. Only like 1" at best.

I'd still guess that they are getting spawny. Did you happen to check your tank heater to be sure you have not bumped it?

Corys are shoaling fish, with the additions of more friends for them has triggered them into normal cory behaviour and possibly may spawn, depending if the new ones are at breeding age :)

Its best to keep the temp around mid-70's for corys has opposed to 80's.

Well it depends. it's only 76-78 but on extremely hot days it gets hotter... To 84 sometimes (but I add ice cubes to the tank to try and cool the water - or do a water change with cooler water)

This is good and totally normal. Albino Corydora are very active and by adding more they got excited for their new friends! They will settle down a bit within the week.
