Hi

The most amazing thing ever, besides looking at convicts protecting their young, my corn snake, Snoopy, just shed before my eyes!

I noticed he was in blue about 4-5 days ago and then his eyes cleared up 2 days ago, meaning he was about to shed. I expected him to shed last night, as he usually never sheds during the day. I was sitting at the pc and saw he was roaming out. He usually never comes out of his hide during the day so I thought he might be about to shed. I saw him scratching his head against the wood in his tank and then the skin came off. He slowly crawled out of his old skin and I could see him fresh as ever!!! :D

The whole process took about 15 minutes to complete. He is nearly 2 feet long now. We got him last August so he's about8 or 9 months old now!

Here are some recent pics from this week (sorry, i couldn't take pics while he was shedding, too much obstruction in his tank)

Very nice snake you got any close ups of the head? Its just that at first glance he looked like he maybe had some ratsnake in him. I am probably wrong but his head appears just very slightly more square than most corns I have seen.

Getting to see them shed by boa has just shed but he always does it inside his hide. And he has completely confused me over the last couple of days. I was positive that he was and then he went back to normal. Although there was no shed anyway turns out he acctually was in shed and he did it underneath his cork bark last night.

I've had Snoopy since August 2006, so about 8 months now

As far as him having some ratsnake genes is not impossible, i bought him from a pet store. Lord knows who supplied them the stock, i know it was a local guy as the manager told me but that's about it. Nobody on the cornsnake forums ever thought he was part rat though. I unfortunetaly don't have a closeup of the head as my camera is pretty weak and doesn't take very good closeups, those are the best i had.

Its OK as I said I'm not sure there is just something very slightly differerent about the head. Could just be the picture though.

On another note I just read my last post and it makes pretty much no sense the punctuation was awful, so sorry I have tried again.

Getting to see them shed is very unusual. My boa has just shed but he always does it inside his hide. And he completely confused me over the last couple of days. I was positive that he was in shed but then he went back to normal although there was no shed. Anyway turns out he actually was in shed and he did it underneath his cork bark last night so I have a beautiful shiny boa now. :good:

YIKES

I am absolutely petrified of snakes, even looking at a photo of them makes me so nervous I could throw up. I still had to look though because I love seeing other peoples pets and hearing about them. As frightened as I would have been I would have loved to see him shed as long as it was behind a glass enclosure and me hiding behind a door peeping out LOL

nice nails.....

cool snake

I'll send the compliments to my girlfriend, who offered to model for those pics :p

I understand the fear people have of snakes. I'm the same with insects. Anything with 4 legs or less i'm pretty cool with and won't be afraid (unless of course it is a 1000 pound rhino pouncing at me!) My biggest fear is for spiders. I don't mind little ol spiders that roam around the house, but people keeping tarantulas and taking them out of their enclosures.... :shout:

thanks for the compliments everyone! Snoopy is very pleased :)
