Today at 11.30am, my beautiful dog Cookie died peacefully in her sleep. She was 12 years old. She's been my best friend for 10 years and I'll miss her deeply. Not sure how to deal with it, if I'm honest. I've never felt this kind of loss before. Some of her photos are in October potm. I'll add some when I can bear to go through her photos. I've tried reading the rainbow bridge poems but I can't read a whole one at the moment. I'm in bits right now :(

This is my favourite photo of us together taken a few years ago. Everything still feels so surreal. I saw her but I still can't accept it.

Sorry for your loss, even though you will probably miss her with time the pain of the loss is not so great you will be able to remember Cookie without breaking down and you will laugh over happier times spent with her.

A small consolation is that she died peacefully in her sleep, in her home surrounded by everyone and everything she knew.

Condolances to you and peace be with Cookie.

Sorry to hear of your loss. It's horrible when a pet that has intergrated so well into the family passes away.

We had a German Shepherd that we bought as a puppy. Olive we called her, she was great but had so much more potential than just being our pet. So we donated her to Durham Constabulary, and she went onto be a Police dog, top of her class in everything. Great dog. She came back to us to see out the rest of her days in retirement and passed away aged 13. Although she went away for 5 years she still came back knowing who her true owners were, and was a credit to her breed.
