Okay, excuses first, waters currently a little cloudy becuase I added the final layer of roman gravel only half an hour ago, so it hasn't settled yet.

There's 5x cory, 9x bumblebee goby, 1x guppy and 1x rummy nose tetra in the tank, but most are hiding (thanks to water change and adding new substrate)

As you can hopefully see, tank is split roughly centrally by a line of Water Sprite, this is for tomorrows new fish :good:

So thats the tank, it's a handmade 36"x12"x15", it's donning clearseal add-ons to tidy it up, the clearseal bits are from the previous tank.
You can see my Fluval U2 and heater on the right. (moved the filter as of the filter positioning thread).
Also visible are my 3 stone caves, hope everyone else thinks they look as good as I think they do.
All the plants are still juvi, and need to grow, as are the fish.

The cory's.. well some of them atleast, hiding at the back waiting to uproot one of my plants again no doubt.
They are peppered cory's and what were sold as Cory. Julii, though I now believe them to be Trilineatus. The rest were off hiding in caves.

One of my goby's, I think they may be golden banded goby's, but honestly have no idea.. they were just sold as bumblebee. The tanks lightly salted to cater for their needs, did this carefully whilst watching the cory's as I know some can be funny with salt, all took to it well.
They are supposedly shy fish, but mine are everywhere, literally everywhere.

So thats my setup, let me know what you think :good:

Looks good though I would watch with the salt as corys dont tolerate much at all, tbh you would probably be better of keeping it fresh as I understand most the commonly sold bumblebee gobies are freshwater fish. Is it marine salt or aquarium salt? The plant in the middle picture appears to be a non aquatic btw.

You mean the plant dead centre, the one seperating the two sides of the tank?

And it's natural aquarium salt, I tested it in small doses at a time to see how the cory's reacted, it doesn't bother them one bit. So the water is now midway between freshwater and brackish, or as i'd say, very lightly salted.

Also the bumblebee's are almost certainly of mixed species. The rares actual bumblebee goby can thrive in freshwater, whereas the golden banded (approximately half my goby's I reckon) cannot tolerate freshwater at all. So it's just to be on the safe side.

The green and white varigated one. Looks like a wheat plant or a spider plant.

It sounds more like tonic salts as I wouldn't have thought corys could withstand much true marine salt.

Tanks looks likes it really taking shape. I reckon a few more plants would be good, agree about the non-aquatic one.
The sprite grows really, really quickly. I used to have it in one of my tanks and it literally took over. You can just cut bits off and replant really easily.

How come you only have one rummy nose? They really need to be in groups and are one of the tightest schooling fish I've seen. That cory in the middle, it's hard to tell but I reckon it could be a Sterbai.

I'm not sure how the cories and tetras will tolerate the salt long-term though. Is there any aggression from the gobies towards the other fish?

So what's going in next?

Ok, well the plant that you guys presume to be non-aquatic we bought from pets at home, so chances are it could be anything.
But it's been in there a few weeks now and not shown any signs of rotting...or growing for that matter.

Yeah I let the sprite take over a bit, then took cuttings to replant in new areas (and sent some to a friend).

The single rummy nose, labelled "the uncatchable".. As he is exactly that, me and the missus have spent hours upon hours trying to net this fish, including emptying the entire aquarium of ornaments, he is simply uncatchable. So he has to live with it now, until he decides he wants to be caught.
he spends his day swimming around with the lone Guppy, the guppy was a lone survivor of a tank explosion (blew the side off) and when it came to setting up a new tank for the missus, she decided she didn't want to keep guppies anymore, and wanted to keep Betta instead, so i'm lumped with a single guppy.

Whats next? Wednesday morning i'm recieving a delivery of a pair of Apisto. Cacatouides (super red) who will be taking pride of joy in the tank.

I'm undecided whether to get 2 more females to make a harem, or see how those 2 get on first.
I also have a single Apisto. Agassizi in the tank now *eyeroll*, male, who will either need rehoming or need some company.

I have the room, but i'll already be overstocked with the Cacs, so I might have to set up a small tank for the lone guppy and lone tetra (if I can SOMEHOW net him) and then up my water change to 2-3x a week.

I'll upload some photo's tonight.

Yeah I'm not the best at netting fish either but I'm getting better. I find Cory's the hardest to catch. If you still want to catch him try using two nets. Hold one still and guide the fish into the net with the other.

Some really nice fishies! Love the corys and of course the gobies. Looking forward to seeing some pics of the apisto cacs, they should be ok with the agasizzi i should imagine?
Otherwise love the tank and little hidie holes!
:good:

Thanks, I'll take some pics when they arrive.

And theres plenty of room for them, so the agassizi will be fine, I just need to buy him a girly.

Jamepsss me and the missus have been in the tank with 2 nets, at one point we had three nets in there, I had two and she had one, he's just too slippery a customer. tbh the biggest problem is the horizontal "shelves" at the top of my tank. If I manage to pin him up against the glass with a net, I have to take it away to lift it out of the water, where he immediately escapes. It's a nightmare.

Tbh, I havent tried catching any cory's yet. But I know how quick they can be.

Decided to set up a 20l tank, and have another last ditch attempt at catching the #28###. The guppy and some of the missus' glo-light tetras are going in it, so we can reduce our bioloads a little. As I need the room to get more female apisto's for the agassizi and the cac.
