The saddest and still funiest thing happened to my clownfish last night. After I had turned out the tank lights for the evening, he decided to try and enact an escape plan that he must have been watching finding nemo just a little to closely because he somehow managed to jump the partition of my nano-cube and get him self lodged in the water return tube of the filtration pump. My wife heard the pump beginning to make some strange noises and went over to find the fish inside the clear tube that returns water from the filtration chambers of the tank. The sad thing was that this was obviously a fatal accident for him because he forgot one major detail of the plan, he didn't take any gravel in with him so the impeller appeared to have killed him. I don't mean to make light of the fact that a fish died under my care but is kind of struck me as ironic that a clownfish was stuck in the tube similarly to the film.

Well my daughter (3 years old) was terribly upset this morning when she woke up and commenced searching the tank with her cookie monster flashlight looking for "Bob" as we had named him. So I had really no choice but to go to the LFS and get another Bob as per her requests. I'm setting about making the rear chamber of the tank impenetrable now so this doesn't happen again.

Sorry for your loss, I've lost a fish to carpet surfing too (little bugger musta jumped during feeding and I didnt notice till it was too late), its never fun. One thing I learned from my LFS. Do not have any flat surfaces exposed to air where the fish can jump on. Sometimes if you cover an overflow box with a flat piece of acrylic or eggcrate or what have you a fish will jump on this "table" and just stay there, never realizing it could just flop back into the water. My one flat space inside the tank of any decent length that they could jump on has slanted eggcrate on it
