You need to hold your phone horizontally (not vertically) when filming things. Fish are long and go from left to right. When you hold the phone vertically, it makes it much harder to view the entire fish. Holding the phone horizontally also means you don't get the big black bars on either side of the footage.

Yes, you're right. When I do long videos. I will do that, since my videos are "shorts", they are meant to be viewed portrait mode on a phone which makes it look nice

Mobile phones have software that automatically rotates images and footage so it can fill the entire screen. I would make all the videos with the phone held horizontally and people can turn their phones to get the best view of the fish.

that would theoretically make sense, but with youtube shorts and phones upright, the video would just have the bars but horizontally, and the feature does not work when you turn your phone horizontal.
