Okay, I have not kept Kribensis Cichlids ( Pelvicachromis pulcher ) in probably 2 years. Recently, I bought some yellow lab cichlids ( Labidochromis caeruleous ). Well, I noticed the man also have a pair of Kribensis. He had tried and tried to get them to breed, and no results. So, I am buying the pair off him for 6 dollars ( 3 pounds) this wednesday. I am challenging myself to get them to breed. I often give advice on here about how to breed Kribs ect. and now, im going to try and put my advice "in the field" after 2 years of no kribs. Im working on setting up the tank right now. Im turning the temp up to 82 degree's, and setting up a water change schedule. Im also checking all the foods i have, to make sure they have high levels of protien and Sprinula in them.

So, basically, this is a do or die thing. I won't feel comfortable giving out information, with the fact the kribs didn't breed for me. I mean, I have bred them before, but I am still giving out information. If this does work, iw ill have more information on how to breed them, if it dosen't, well, i will be rather depressed.

Well, anywho, just figuerd i would let you guy's know that im off trying to get a non-bbreeding pair , breeding =]. Wish me luck!

I'm sure you'll be able to handle it. From what I've read of your posts, you are far more knowledgable than most. If it doesn't work, I'd be willing to vote that it has to do more so with nature than with your lack of knowledge or skill. But best of luck and keep us posted!

I hope i can. They seemed pretty healthy when i checked on them a month ago. I don't know why they wont breed for the guy.

There could be a sexual problem with either of the fish as in one of them was born infertile. i dunno. also maybe their to young?or as said sometimes nature just doesnt allow 2 to reproduce.

Well, i only got the male. He couldn't find the female. He think's she may have jumped. Well, from what i see, the male is not P. pulcher. He is P. taeniatus. But i can't tell what color morph( or if he is just P. taeniatus). He dosen't have enough color for me to decide yet. I will post a pic tommorow. Now my hunt begins for a female ( don't care if it is P. pulcher or not). He seems to be doing okay in the set-up.

my mistake haha. couldnt find the female? lols she couldnt have gotten to fare unless there was a water problem he didnt tell u about he'd just been through or the male killd the female after he got frustrated over her fertility problems maybe? haha

Definatley no water problems. Trust me, this guy is the person i would least think had water problems. He breed all kinds of cichlids and pleco's. He think's the female jumped. He took all the decor out of the tank, and couldn't find her. I will have pics of the male up later, he is beautiful.

I found out this Krib is a Male of P. taeniatus "Muyuka" . Not common fish whatsoever. Cool find.

^ Not likely to find the same species female. Apparently they are not very common. I don't even know how the guy got ahold of the male ( he thinks it was mis-identified at a Chicago Auction). I will either get a P. pulcher female or a P. taeniatus female.
