my catfish is crippled

cory looks fine, as long as he's eating and pooing fine there's nothing much to worry about.

your mix of fish is somewhat interesting though, cories, goldfish, sailfin plec and an oscar!

although they all look happy togther and seems a good size tank from the pics and vids you shouldn't really keep tropical and coldwater fish together. It's not really right as your keeping 1 or the other in unsuitable conditions.

I'm surprised the oscar hasn't eating the cories really.

From what I saw, the tail looked like it was kinking but it might have just been the angle of the cory. I have one who was born with a kinked tail and she's doing fine still after 4 years. Biggest cory I have and she's spawned a few times, no mature males around at the time when she did though. :p

He looks like his back end is more or less off to one side, but he looks ok, like he's still eating and looking for food which is a great sign. Good luck with him. And that is an interesting mix of fish.

Has it developed or has it always had a sideways kink? If it has developed recently it *COULD* be an internal infection or parasite of some sort. I have seen livebearers and also plecs with a similar thing.

Although as already mentioned it could just be a deformity that has developed more with age, if it is eating ok and is quite happy then don't worry yourself too much, but do keep a close eye on it and have some anti-internal bacterial medicine handy.

Hi smooth_bourbon :)

Sometimes corys do develop that bent spine over time. It could be a genetic thing too.

Your cory has nice barbels and appears healthy and active. I don't think you have to worry about it. :D

thanks for all the input. He has always been a little kinky but its getting worse with age. :(

As for the interesting mix of fish sorry should of warned ya. My pond is under remodel and the goldies holding tank got damaged so they are housed there very temporarily. Oscar is ticked about it keeps ripping my power head apart. I know the temp is bad for the goldies but my other option right now would be feed them to the coons so figure they will forgive me. I cant wait till I can put them back in the pond and stop doing so damn many water changes.

I hope he never goes for my Cories for that will be the day he finds himself a new home. He is technically my brothers fish tho I have housed him since he was a baby. He has never shown any aggression towards my cories, he does pick on my pleco and dempsey on occasion.
