Hey guys, just noticed my fat bronze cory being ambushed by a group of smaller males and thought I'd watch what happens.... well they are in the process of laying eggs EVERYWHERE!!

I can count around 40-50 eggs already scattered all over the tank but what do I do with them? Do I just leave them attatched to the glass or remove them as I do wanna try and raise the fry if I can?

I have 6 Bronze corys, 2 bolivians, 3 otos and 6 white clouds if that matters?

Thanks and pics to follow soon!

Do you have another tank?

You can remove them, but you need somewhere to remove them to! :good:

Ive put them into my breeding trap and hung it into the tank with an air stone hope this is ok?

We have around 200 eggs and she's still going!

They will go into my shrimp tank once they are free swimming by the way

I used to pick them off the glass with my fingers and place them in a margarine tub floating on the top of the main tank until hatched, an air stone is a good idea to prevent the eggs getting fungus.
If any turn white these can be removed as they wont hatch.
Once hatched feed sparingly with liquifry or todays equavilant (not sure if still available) then a good fry food.
When moved to larger tank dont have to much head of water as they need to reach the top for air.

Im sure someone will tell you other methods but thats how I used to do it :good:

Thats ok then I have around 50 left in the main tank to see how they get on and well over 200 in the breeding trap with the air stone.

Can I feed decapsulated brine shrimp when born? Thing is on the packet I bought it said non hatchable but I fed these to my apisto fry and they did ok on just the eggs?

My shrimp tank isn't very deep so thats fine with the water level problem, can't wait to see if they hatch now!

I saw something about methalene blue aswell for fungus? Can I use a very small dose of a medication that has meth blue in or just meth blue on its own?

Cheers for the help

Just noticed a few of the eggs getting tiny tiny white specks inside, is this fungus or the fry? Dont know what to do with them, don't wanna remove them if they are still healthy!

Cheers

I have free swimmers! Around 100 or so, now hopefully my infusoria culture gets a wiggle on so I can start feeding them up :hyper:

decapped brine shrimp eggs are perfect for them, its what i use from the day they hatch out, no need for anything else, but make sure you suck out excess feed which will clump up on the bottom.

Thanks Tizer, I've started them on that and I'll see how they go!

So funny watching them swim around with bright orange bellies :shifty:

Been using a small syringe to suck out all the fungus-y eggs and old food but need something a little better like a turkey baster or something, still little bits of scattered food in the bottom, was gonna add a shrimp or 2 to go round cleaning up but gave up trying to chase them round with the net :shout:

orange bellies is a good sign :)

if you can put a table spoon or two of fine sand in the tank (i use argos playsand) the old manky uneaten food will clump up with the sand and you can suck it out with some of these. One of the best buys i've made for keeping the tank clean. You can snip off the end of one and use them to suck up fry if you need to move them too. :)

Sometimes I look in though and they haven't appeared to of even touched the food!

I had the pain staking task of swapping them from the breeder tank to a fresh empty tank to grow out in, I counted them too.... 115!! Lost 4 though now

Im using a Turkey Baster at the moment to transport fry and suck up waste food, seems to be working well at keping the tank nice and clean alongside the filter.

Cheers
