This is my new bn plec, can someone have a look to confirm its id and if it looks healthy etc. It has white tips that you cant really see in the pic.

Yh its a bn? howbig is it? if its 2 1/2 -3+" I would say its a female. Most BNs IME when small will have the white tips to there tails. some loose it as they get older some dont. They should have a slightly fat tummy when there being feed well so its hard to see how well feed they are from the pic but its looks healthy.

I presume this was added before your ongoing ammonia/nitrite crisis (http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/337683-nitite-spike/), ChiniseMummy? During the early weeks on a tank and filter, new fish every two weeks (upto a the current overall size of fish in the tank) IF the current fish are healthy and bacteria are keeping ammonia and nitrite at zero is much kinder to the fish ;)

Morning and evening water tests, any sign of ammonia or nitrite, be ready for an 80% (50% water changes will not be enough for 0.5 readings, still leaves toxic amounts immediately after change, with chance of rapid increase soon afterwards) or more water change.

This was added before the spike yes, results are at Ammonia 0 and nitite 0.1 every 12hours im doing two 50% water changes a day.

its about 2-3inches ic tail
