I just got 6 albino cories in my new 29 galllon and love them.

I have 2 concerns, however.

1) Even though I offer my 8 pearl danios flakes right beforehand, they still eat the 1/4 tetra tablet that I drop in for the catfish. The cories really only get to eat the crums.

2) Several of the cories appear to have some problems with their fins. Their tail and dorsal fins certainly are not frayed; however, there are a couple "loose" bits of fins that stick up, like little bits that somehow got dislodged. They are little fin filaments that sway as the fish swim, and are rather difficult to see.

Other than that, all is well. I'll post pics soon.

Hi. There is strong possibility that these are flukes. Of course, without a close-up image, there is no way to confirm this. - Frank

Here are some pics:

*NOTE* These cories are only an inch long-the gravel is actually quite small!

From what I'm reading, it doesn't sound like flukes. It looks like part of the fish, and these things are only on the back fins. The fish show no discomfort whatsoever.

Hi. I don't see anything out of the ordinary in those pics. They could be clearer and closer, but I see nothing that looks like flukes. - Frank

Thank you. I bought these cories because their fins looked so good at the lfs. Often, I see cories whose fins look at little ragged. Should I just keep an eye on them and hope that if they have something that it heals? It's a brand new tank, so the water is very clean.

Do you have any advice on the feeding half of my concern?

I had to add a pic of the whole tank; I'm so proud---a 6 week fishless cycle!!!

Hi. Yes, just keep a close eye out and if you don't have one, invest in a good magnifying glass. As far as the feeding, just be sure to drop some tabs in for the Corys after lights-out. They should get their fill, that way. - Frank

Thank you

I have another question. Since my fish are only about an inch long, how old do you think they are? How long does it take for them to reach adult size?
