  :-(    I dont know what happened I left to go into town this morning then decided me and my boyfriend would go shooting for a couple of hours when I left home this morning he was fine when I returned back home he was dead he was only six months old I checked all my water readings and they were 0 and ph was 6.8. I guess my question is do mollies die off like that or should I be worried that the rest of my fish will get what ever the black mollie did and die to.oh one more thing I did notice that one of the black mollies little fins were stuck out stiff, but that is the only thing I noticed any different at all.I dont know how long the fish had been dead for either that could have something to do with its fin sticking out like that.

Mollies need basic, hard water.. Your water is soft/acidic so it is stressful enviroment to mollies. That's the reason why fins aren't ok and molly died.. And another reason could be that they need salt addition sometimes - it's important always to ask from store, where those mollies came from and do they need salt (usually 5%?). If they do, you cannot put them with other fishes/plants.

pH should be 7,5-8,0 and GH over 10-15GH.

Sorry to hear about your lost....I Breed Black Lyretail Mollies, and they do need salt, my ph is 7.6 or so...So that may be the reason he died, from the stress..I do not recommend salt with any scaless fish, and I dont think corys do well with salt, either do the tetras..

I know the mollies need salt to thrive I always made sure that he stayed in salt until 2 months ago when I got the new tanks I planned on setting up the 20long gallon just for all of my mollies I am only a week away from having my tanks all cycled and ready I have kept mollies without salt before and none of just up and killed over on me before with no signs of stress or illness. I just wondered what could have caused this and if I should be worried over the rest of my fish I hate to have to change everything around when I am so close to the end of my cycling it would mess me up on three 55 gallon tanks but I will before I will lose anymore of my fish
